For the Hombrewer: Dry Yeast Substitution Chart

On every brewing message board I have ever been apart of I have noticed people asking for substitutes for liquid yeast or dry yeasts. I didn't want to clog up the last post with this chart or in a sense hide this at the bottom of those other charts. I have developed this chart from rummaging through boards and web searches and found the most common ground. I am not a scientist so I cannot claim that what I am posting is close in DNA (or what ever the building blocks of yeast is) of the substitutes. What I am intending is to give a decent list of some of the dry strains out there and list what would be the liquid equivalent.

  2. I have never seen this dry yeast...can you tell me the manufacturer or post a link to it? I will go and take a look.

  3. The Danstar (Lallemand) Munich Wheat yeast is similar to the Wyeast 3056 Weihenstephan Wheat yeast. Really big bannana esters, fermented above 72ºf, with slight bubblegum notes at times.
